"First off, I'm from Memphis. So when I judge BBQ I am picky. The pulled pork and sauce are spot on. The best I have had, since moving from Memphis. **edit** went back again. See below. **First visit** The Brisket needs more smoke. Low and slow. Low and slow. The cabbage.. I am on the fence. I am an old soul food lover. So if it had less smoky flavor and just good old salt pork I would like it better. So the cabbage is meh for me. The smoked bologna.. tasty. **Second visit** Had the Meatloaf and Sloppy Joe. Meatloaf: Very good, two smoked slices, topped with bbq sauce. Delicious. If I had a "complaint" is that the meat is over work. It makes the meat very firm. Less worked would make it a looser tender loaf. Sloppy Joe: Perfect, just wish they added dill pickle slices to cut some of the sweet. Well seasoned, not overly sweet and plenty of it. The atmosphere is typical bbq shack. Nothing fancy but clean and cool. The staff is friendly enough so no complaints. The prices are fare so a family can eat reasonably cheap. Overall, it's a good BBQ joint."

"As a dasher picked up an order at Smash Mouth BBQ. I had heard of it but never dined from there. It was the smells that piqued my curiosity to push me to give their food a try. When I say I have no regrets of doing so. Ordered 2 Brisket Dinners with Smoked Cabbage & Collard Greens for my partner & myself, Pulled Chicken Dinner with mac & cheese & collard greens for our daughter. First all the food arrived still hot as if it had been freshly prepared. So A++ on that note. Secondly, I can cook a mean fried cabbage myself but never have I ever thought cabbage can be smoked too. Lawdhamercy is all I can say about that Smoked Cabbage Smash Mouth makes. It's now become #1 of my fav comfort food list. Don't get me wrong the collard greens & Brisket was that beast too but it was the smoked cabbage for me So good I think I'm not addicted to it lol keep up the wonderful job you do in that kitchen! Also, note that when I picked up an order there, I observed the cleanliness of the dining area & what I was able to see behind the counter."

"First time ever going to Knoxville, got a recommendation to eat here , we ordered a few dinner plates. Ribs, pulled pork, brisket and a sandwich..so I had the brisket its sliced, tender ..everything you want in brisket..flavor was decent my sides was smoked cabbage and collard greens ...cabbage was on point the collard greens had way to much black pepper almost to over powering the flavor , still ediable but I think if they tone down on it the greens be spot on ..all in all we all enjoyed our dinner . Oh and let the owner know he needs to add a #30 Terrell Davis denver broncos jersey to his wall he was the best running back ever"

"Great local place with amazing pulled pork, and corn bread you will love! Live music is also affordable outside in a really nice back yard setting. This was a nice surprise as you can't see this amazing space from the road. Don't just drive by, as it is worth a stop for sure! It might not look like much from the road, but it's a great place to eat, drink, and catch the game. Plenty of TVs around as well as memorabilia on the walls. I really want to come by and try the meatloaf next time, but we went with one of the sampler platters, and there was plenty of food for 2."

"My husband and I made our first visit to Smash Mouth BBQ tonight and I'm so mad that we've waited this long to try it! It was DELICIOUS! I ordered the brisket plate with Mac & cheese and potato salad. The brisket was so tender you almost didn't need a knife. My husband got the sampler with 3 meats: pulled pork, ribs, and wings. I've never seen ribs with so much meat ever! Everything was so good! We got a banana pudding to take home and you could tell it was homemade! We will definitely be back!"

"My partner and I wanted BBQ and have never been here, so we thought we'd give it a try. We went for their platter, so we could get a bit of everything. Their pulled pork was absolutely delicious! It was tender and juicy. The mild BBQ sauce was amazing! It was sweet, with a little kick to it. We ate it up and got some to take home to finish off the pulled pork! The baked beans and potato salad were banging! We'll definitely be back to eat."

"Smash Mouth BBQ in Knoxville Tennessee is a good barbecue place Powers a secret recipes, passion and heart! The variety of meats available, and the side dishes that are extensive. I had the brisket colored greens a roll and red beans (however I ordered smoked cabbage was mistakenly substituted with red beans) The brisket was good… I have no doubt it would’ve been better. Had a not waited for 2030 minutes while I went to my next stop. The collards were amazing. And I wish I got the opportunity to try a smoked cabbage. Shell was awesome! She helped me through my transaction navigating the menus and choices. Super friendly… This place is really old school… Worth a try"
